Play 1: Broken Shells

Set in 1980s Mexico, the story follows Vale, a fifteen-year-old girl who longs to retreat into her shell and escape the unfamiliar world around her. However, she soon learns that such a shell can only protect her for so long. Along with her sisters, Vale struggles to adjust to her new life while contending with her mother’s struggles, frustrations and religious beliefs. All the while, Vale grapples with dangers, challenges and questions that come with being a teenage girl.
