Biography

Tony Shayne is a freelance designer, production manager and educator. He has worked both nationally and internationally in dance, theater, music, opera & film/tv, and on numerous productions that combine many of those.

Tony specializes in producing site-specific and avant-garde productions, including his work with The Industry, LA Opera, Rosanna Gamson/World-Wide, and LA Fashion Week, as well as working with organizations such as LA Chamber Orchestra, Sun Valley Music Festival, New York Music Theater Festival, Boston Lyric Opera, Music Academy of the West and many more.

Tony has held staff positions at renowned performing arts organizations like ODC and REDCAT and has worked at some of California’s best colleges, including UC Riverside, UCLA, CalArts, UC Berkeley and UC Davis, and served as a Lecturer at Stanford University.

Currently, Tony is the Production Director for The Industry, an LA-based experimental opera company that prizes site-specific work in the diverse LA communities it serves.

Tony received his BFA in Lighting Design, a Minor in Classics and a Certificate in Heritage Conservation from USC, and his MFA in Lighting Design from UC Davis.
