Sam Peckinpah was a director, writer, and innovator of the Western genre. He wrote and directed the films Straw Dogs, The Wild Bunch, and Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia. He created the TV series The Westerner and wrote for various television shows including Gunsmoke and The Rifleman.
