Pia Shah MFA '13 acts alongside Alfred Molina in 'The Father'

Pia Shah

This month, at the Pasadena Playhouse, Pia Shah MFA ’13 will take her place onstage with acclaimed actor Alfred Molina (Frida, An Education, Enchanted April) in Florian Zeller’s The Father. Molina plays Andre, an elderly man tangled in dementia and suspicious of his daughter, her lover, his caretaker, and an assembly of questionable visitors. In this small cast of only six actors, Shah plays Laura, the caretaker who seems to have taken his watch.

This won’t be Shah’s first show at the Playhouse; she read the role of Hasina in the theatre’s HotHouse Reading of Noms de Guerre in 2014. Since then, she has appeared onstage at South Coast Repertory, Seattle Repertory, East West Players, and more. Jessica Kubzansky (Artistic Director, Boston Court Pasadena) will return to the venue to direct Zeller’s award-winning script. The Father runs Feb. 5 through March 1 at the Pasadena Playhouse.
