2025 Inquiry Form

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
In this unique experiential educational opportunity, students learn what it means to intensively workshop new musicals on their way toward commercial production. During this two-week workshop, students work side-by-side with industry professionals as a visiting artistic team takes bold steps to workshop and refine a new musical. In addition to performance opportunities, students can explore and develop vital skills in the creation of a new musical in the areas of stage management, script supervision, assistant direction, and more.

PROGRAM DATES
May 19 – 31, 2025

LOCATION
This two-week experiential workshop will take place on the USC Campus in Los Angeles.

STUDENT INFORMATION
This program is open to all USC students. Selection is competitive with a required audition for performance roles and interview for production roles, and a final group of students will be selected to participate.

ACADEMIC CREDIT
Students are required to enroll in a 2 unit course, THTR499: LA Lab for Musical Theatre as part of the Spring 2025 semester. (Please note, this will fulfill 2 units of upper-division elective credit for USC School of Dramatic Arts students.)

INTERVIEW PROCESS
In order to participate, students must audition (or interview for production roles). We encourage all interested students to submit an inquiry form for more information about the audition or interview processes. Once decisions are made, the School of Dramatic Arts’ Office of Admissions and Student Services will notify all accepted students and provide registration clearance.

HOUSING
Housing is not required but may be available in USC Housing for an additional cost. Singles may also be available.

PROGRAM COSTS
Undergraduate student flat tuition covers up to 18 units for the semester so no additional tuition charges will be incurred for this 2-unit course unless students need to enroll in Spring 2025 for more than 18 units. Certain students may be eligible for an Academic Achievement Award. Students will be required to cover housing, meals and incidental costs at their own expense.

FINANCIAL AID
Accepted students may petition the Financial Aid office for extra funding to cover program costs. Funding is not guaranteed.
