Biography

Lena Ford is a Los Angeles-based playwright from New York. She teaches Critical Studies and Dramatic Writing at USC School of Dramatic Arts. Her work focuses on empowering women and marginalized communities in the U.S. Her plays have been developed and received readings throughout Los Angeles including The Vagrancy Theatre, The Inkwell, Playground LA and Theatricum Botanicum, while her adaptation of Othello received development support from the Hansberry Project in Seattle. Her short story The Handkerchief received a Martha’s Vineyard Author Fellowship and was a semi-finalist in the NCWN’s Thomas Wolfe Fiction Prize.

She holds an MFA in Dramatic Writing from USC and a B.A. in English from UCLA.
