In a new series, we explore some of the USC School of Dramatic Arts’ most helpful resources, introduced by the staff and faculty who manage them. In this installment, we talk with Associate Dean of Admissions and Student Services Sergio Ramirez about everything the Office of Student Services has to offer.
Tell us about yourself and your role in Student Services.
Sergio Ramirez: As Associate Dean, I help lead the charge in providing a number of the support services for students in SDA. I have been at USC for the past 18 years and am constantly reminded of how special this place is through the amazing work that comes out of our classrooms and theatres.
Why is Student Services a valuable resource that SDA students should know about?
Aside from the obvious—advisement—we are well informed of the many resources available across campus. Our hope is to be seen as a resource and most importantly another layer of support during your time at USC. We want to help make this experience the best it can be!
What is the most underutilized resource at Student Services?
Programs we offer. Throughout the term, we put together a variety of events aimed at building community. Some examples this Fall include Dinner with Your Advisor; Connecting with USC Student Health; Finding Calm: Techniques to Ease Stress and Boost Well-Being; Random Acts of Kindness. One of our goals is to help contribute to creating a sense of belonging – because you do!
How can SDA students learn more if they’re curious about Student Services?
