Biography

Jacquetta Farrar, originally from Newark, NJ, is a versatile actress, writer and producer based in Los Angeles, CA. With a Theatre minor from Temple University, her career launched in the off-off-Broadway scene at The Producers Club. She has starred in various short films and played a lead role in A Piece of the Action, a modern take on a classic film. Her prominence grew with her win as the inaugural red carpet host at the Newark International Film Festival, a role she held until 2020. Beyond acting, Jacquetta’s creative ventures include drafting her book, My Mother’s Daughter, during a residency in Tuscany, Italy. She is a founding member of the Newark Short Film Awards and launched the Newark 72 Hour Film Race in 2021 to support emerging filmmakers. Her advocacy focuses on social justice, education and women’s rights, aiming to amplify the Black experience and foster community.
