For #SDA75, we’re looking back on our fondest memories, from alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, donors and friends: this short story was submitted by alumna Cheryl Wolder, BA ’83, from her time as a student.
I was part of the “opening night” crowd that they filmed for NBC Live! They broadcast “All the Way Home” with Sally Field, William Hurt, Polly Holliday, and Ned Beatty. We ushered the show the next night. I remember a woman came to the door and I thought I knew her and said, “hi!” Her face became a mask of terror just as I realized I didn’t know her…it was Kami Cotler from “The Waltons!” Then we got to watch the show. Heard that Mr. Beatty blew a line during the live broadcast and was so distressed, he skipped the cast party.
Loved the Bing! I was an extra in “Measure for Measure,” and sang in an evening of song put together by students. Glad I got the chance to tread the Bing boards. I still act, write, and sing. Take care, everyone!
