The USC School of Dramatic Arts is pioneering an extraordinary theatrical initiative that promises to transform how we experience the 2028 Paralympics in Los Angeles. Under the visionary leadership of Dr. Brent Blair and MFA/MSW Regan Linton, this ambitious mixed-media performance project aims to herald the opening of the Paralympic Games near the iconic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

A New Vision for Paralympic Storytelling

This isn’t just another performance piece—it’s a revolutionary approach to celebrating Paralympic athletes and the broader disability community. The project centers on documentary-style interviews with Paralympians and para-athletes from across the globe, woven together into a compelling narrative by an international team of professional disabled artists working at the pinnacle of their respective fields.

The collaborative nature of this project reflects the Paralympic spirit itself, bringing together diverse voices and perspectives to create something truly unprecedented in scope and ambition.

From Vision to Reality: The Development Process

The project’s first phase, completed early this year, demonstrated the power of inclusive artistic collaboration. Over six intensive months, internationally renowned disabled artists gathered regularly to explore the themes that resonate most deeply within the disability and para-athlete communities.

This research phase culminated in a series of embodied workshops at USC in May 2025, featuring a rich tapestry of artistic disciplines including movement, music, storytelling, puppetry, and critical dialogue. These workshops have become the foundation upon which the larger production will be built.

Supporting Paralympic Excellence

As this project continues its important work, SDA is seeking additional funds to develop the next phase of narratives around disability, athleticism, and human potential with the goal of a completed performance piece by January 2028.

By supporting this initiative, you will help ensure that the 2028 Paralympics will feature not just exceptional athletic competition, but also revolutionary artistic expression that honors the full spectrum of human experience and achievement.  The project stands as a testament to what becomes possible when artistic vision meets athletic inspiration, creating something that will resonate far beyond Los Angeles 2028.
