Once again, USC School of Dramatic Arts (SDA) alumni are making waves in the television industry, with several earning nominations for the 77th Annual Emmys®. Their creative excellence spans drama, comedy, and limited series, showcasing the breadth of talent nurtured at SDA. We honor their continued success.
Here are a few of the SDA alumni who were named in the nominations this year.
Forest Whitaker (’82) is nominated for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his work on Andor.
Erin Anderson (BFA ’12) and Madigan Stehly (BFA ’14) were both nominated for Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction for a Variety Special for their work on The 67th Annual Grammy Awards. They both also picked up a second nomination for Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction for a Series: Anderson for her work on The Voice’s Finale, and Stehly for his work on Dancing with the Star’s Semi-Finals
Jimmy Fowlie (BA ’08) also received two nominations. He is nominated for Writing for a Variety Special for the SNL50: The Anniversary Special and for Writing for a Variety Series for Saturday Night Live.
Megan Guthrie-Wedemeyer (BFA ’16) received a nomination for Outstanding Period Costumes for her work on 1923.
Taylor Dearden and Amielynn Abellera are part of the cast of The Pitt, which earned a nomination for Outstanding Drama Series.
Of course we love it when our faculty, frequent guests and supporters also receive nominations. We couldn’t be happier for Trojan Will Ferrell whose documentary Will & Harper received a nomination for Documentary or Nonfiction Special; Cathy Sandrich Gelfond who serves on SDA’s Board of Councilors received a nomination for her work on The Pitt; and former faculty member and frequent guest Colman Domingo who was nominated for his work on The Four Seasons.
The 77th Emmy Awards will be broadcast live on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and will be available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+. The ceremony will be hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze and will take place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
