Biography
Alana Dietze is a director, actor and Associate Artistic Director of the Echo Theater Company. Notable directing credits include Crabs in a Bucket (Echo, World Premiere), Poor Clare (Echo, World Premiere, 8 LADCC Awards including Production and Direction), The Wolves (Echo; LADCC Winner, Ensemble), Ripe Frenzy (NNPN Rolling World Premiere for Greenway Ct. Theater – LA Times Critic’s Pick), Dry Land (Echo; Ovation Winner, Production), The Found Dog Ribbon Dance (Echo) and A Small Fire (Echo; Ovation, Stage Raw and LADCC nominee). Her production of Dry Land was remounted at the Kirk Douglas Theatre as part of their inaugural Block Party program (7 Ovation nominations including Direction and Production). Alana also regularly works as a guest director in academic institutions. Past productions include Dry Land (CSULB), A List of Happenings at 1016 14th St (UCLA), Elevada (Occidental College), Still Harvey Still (UCLA) and You On The Moors Now (CSARTS-SGV). Some of her recent and favorite work as an actor includes The Recital (Monkspace), Charlotte Stay Close (EST/LA), Gloria (Stage Raw Winner – Comedy Ensemble, Echo), An Undivided Heart (Echo), Fugue (Echo), Everything Will Be Different (Ovation nominations for Leading Actress, Ensemble, Production, Echo), The Red Letter Plays (Illyrian Players), The Devil’s Wife (Skylight), and The Hillary Game (Padua Playwrights). She holds a BA in Theater from Occidental College.
