Biography

Neisha Folkes is a native New Yorker who started her career at the High School of Performing Arts. She earned her B.F.A degree from the Juilliard School in New York and has won many awards.

Folkes is a former Principal Dancer with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre. Before reaching the age of 21, she had already performed in two Broadway productions and at Radio City Music Hall.

Her film credits include Speed, Malcolm X, Glitter, Meet the Fockers, Coke, Gap Swing and others.

Neisha is presently at Harvard Westlake School and the University of Southern California as a Jazz/Contemporary and Musical Theatre Professor and Choreographer.

She has also been the owner and Artistic Director of a youth (ages 6-16) theatrical company for the past 17 years.
