A NOTE FROM THE DEAN

Welcome to the USC School of Dramatic Arts where our students deepen and expand their talent and power as artists.

We believe that through the dramatic arts, stories are created which inform and define every society. The School’s mission is to educate and train the artists who will create and perform these stories for the present moment and for history.

Theatre is, and always will be, the foundation for our training. It is our home where the artist has full responsibility for and full authority over his or her work. Theatre is the shared act of imagination between actor and audience. It encompasses literature, visual spectacle and music but everything leads to and supports the moment when an actor speaks and the audience listens.

We also know there are many different platforms for dramatic expression and that our graduates will need the craft and flexibility to move from one medium to another. From acting on camera classes to voice-over training to professional preparation classes and workshops, the School provides its students with many different opportunities to learn and grow.

The USC School of Dramatic Arts encourages students to explore their creative possibilities fully. The School also strives to instill confidence, integrity and a standard of excellence into each of our students – traits that are essential in any field.

Thanks to the caliber of our students and faculty, the USC School of Dramatic Arts is ranked as one of the top dramatic arts schools in the United States. Graduates of the School work professionally in all aspects of theatre, film and television. The School’s faculty are dynamic teachers who work regularly in the theatre and entertainment industry. The School is greatly enhanced by being located in Los Angeles.

Leading artists visit the School each year to teach workshops, master classes and mentor students. And the School offers a wide array of internship possibilities throughout the city where students learn first-hand about the profession they will be entering.

We appreciate your interest and invite you to consider the unique educational opportunities and environment offered by the USC School of Dramatic Arts.
