Hector, an intern with a Christian college ministry, freaks out when an Angel appears to him and delivers a message. Trying to avoid a looming crisis of faith, Hector is pulled in different directions by his brother and his mentor. But to retain his relationships, his faith, and his sanity, Hector has to confront both God and men.

The Vending Machine

A group of people rent out rooms in a cheap motor lodge. Thomas, a soccer player, attempts to seduce a rival soccer player, Sally. Meanwhile, Sally tries to deal with her impending 18th birthday. Thomas’s dad, Elroy prepares for his eating competition by eating everything he can. Peggy, a truck driver, tries to help a young girl, Ellie, who has run away from home. All the while, Tony, the vending machine repairman argues intently with a homeless man, Saturn, who lives near the vending machine.

A diner in Chicago’s near-Northside – the Golden Nugget – sits across from the notorious Cabrini Green housing projects. In the days just before the last of the buildings is scheduled for demolition, residents, friends, and enemies gather to face their uncertain futures and the broken promises of the city.
