On a quiet Sunday in September, several hundred alumni, students, faculty and staff of the USC School of Dramatic gathered in the Bing Theatre to remember and celebrate the life of Paul Backer, longtime associate professor of theatre practice and director of undergraduate voice and movement, who passed away this past July.
The event was filled with smiles, tears, and remembrances of a man who, as Former Dean Madeline Puzo remarked, was “a deeply caring, and committed teacher who daily, consistently, put the growth of his students and faculty that he led at the forefront of his thoughts.”
